An Unconventional Love Affair

My bed

(I’ll just apologize now, all my photos are taken from your basic Iphone 4. I am not a photographer, nor do I claim to be, but I will be taking a class soon. I Might purchase a decent camera while I am at it. Can’t hurt right?)

You are looking at my me spot. My sanctuary. Where the magic happens. The coma inducer. My office. My bed.

I have a pretty epic love affair with my bed. Just look at all those pillows. How could I not? My comforter has multiple personalities, and I am okay with it. One side is composed of a silk soft suede, while the other is a thick and coarse, yet gentle wool like material. When I get under those covers, it is like being stuffed in to one giant UGG boot. Back to the pillows. Those are the real seducers. There is almost a science I have developed to positioning my pillows for optimum slumber. As you can see in the picture, they are also very versatile. One moment they are my little spoon, and the next a desk. Impressive right?

That’s not all. My bed is a real machine. It is the only place Jack and I can snuggle without him getting distracted and then run off to scale my refrigerator. It holds my laundry for me… even for days sometimes. How considerate. My pillows don’t judge me when I drool on them. Nor do they judge when I drunkenly go to sleep with all my clothes, shoe (yes, just one) and makeup still on.

This place, is the one place that is all mine. My bed is there to heal my fatigue, entertain my laziness, and help me write genius posts like this. In this spot I am the most at ease and comfortable but also the most vulnerable. How will any guy ever compare? Speaking of, I adore my bed so much that I am even very selective as to who will have the privilege of experiencing its nirvana. Yea, thats right, thats why there are no men in my bed. Anyway… Me and my bed aren’t keen of sharing each other anyway. Threesomes are out of the picture. Call it old fashioned.

Okay, but in all seriousness, in my bed this morning I was miraculously able to pull off sleeping in past 8:15 on my day off. Such a win for me. There can’t be any greater feeling than waking up in my incredible bed with a clean slated day ahead of me. I can stay in my cocoon all day long if I damn well please (right, I wouldn’t get antsy at all), or I can do what I enjoy most on these days. That is basically what you are looking at in the photo. I Set up my pillow desk, rig up the Ihome, and crack that balcony door open. Let’s write.

What do you love about your bed? Where do you do your best writing?

  1. I typically do my best writing on my couch. I fall alseep if I try to write in my bed lol.

    Nice post!

  2. Fantastic, I do the same thing when I’m writing late night. But instead of pillows I fold my comforter to stack that high, haha.

  3. Amazingly enough, I do my best work at the kitchen table – and the Bell Desk!
    Forget that last part though…
You never know when HR is reading…

  4. the picture isn’t bad at all. i like the light coming from the outside door. thomas kinkade would be pleased.

  5. We recently were displaced from our bed for twenty-seven horrible days, thanks to Mother Nature and a tornado. I have never felt anything as magical as crawling back into it for the first time. And my recliner as well.

  6. I have a love-hate relationship with my bed. Or I should say my house’s bed, since I didn’t pick it. Some nights exhaustion makes it wonderful, other nights, the wrong position leaves me in pain… but then I’ll do something like couchsurf at someone’s house and try a new bed, and I’ll appreciate mine much more!!!
As for writing, I like to do that anywhere. Sometimes I hand write it first so I can just type and go, other times I sit at my desk.

    • Oh man, sleeping in a different place can definitely make you appreciate your own bed. I get frustrated with writing vs. typing because my hand writing is not all that great. However, sitting hunched over my lap top can give me some issues too. The things we go through! Haha.

  7. Great post! I actually have a similar love affair with my desk! My boyfriend bought me the most amazing writing desk for my birthday, and I can’t write anywhere else. Every time I sit down at my desk I feel inspired, and every time Blake sits down at my desk, I’m reprimanding him for messing it up haha!

  8. I do most of my things in the bed actually, from writing my blog and listening to music to sleeping. All my writings I do them in bed althought its less comfy for me than writing on a desk it keeps my mind more focused and inspired by the things around me while on the desk it’s hard to focus on anything. I think beds are more comfy to seat too rather than in a hard-plastic chair (which I have) but anyways I’m in love with my bed too!
